Confessions of an Infovore

I'm an infovore (a term that I think was coined by infovore grand poobah Tyler Cowan). An infovore is someone who consumes huge amounts of information on a regular basis (Tyler's blog MarginalRevolution.com is one of my many stops on the infobahn.)

For breakfast I'll feast on social newstream/bookmarking services Delicious.com, Pinboard.in, Affbuzz. Then I read the Bible (the Book of Job is my favorite).

Lunch usually consists of Hacker News and several Google Reader RSS accounts. Mid afternoon I'll listen to the latest podcast installments of Econtalk (with the amicable Russ Roberts), The Kunstlercast, Tech Zing Live, and if my metabolism is running hot, the Engadget podcast (although they can be kind of lame sometimes re. ).

Doing automated-type stuff at the computer allows me to watch Fora.tv and This Week In Mobile

Before bed I'll read hundreds of RSS feeds on my My6Sense iPhone app and study my Spanish (which I also listen to and from the gym).

This is an abbreviated list, as there are many other sites that I visit on a quasi-regular basis (Slashdot being most notable).

And yes, it can get in the way of being sociable.

Marketing Strategy Graphs and Graphics

I've been collecting these graphics for months, but I don't have the sources documented. If you know where these graphics originated from, let me know and I'll give them attribution.

Rock Google Rankings with this Simple Trick

Delicious Bookmark this on Delicious

As a professional Search Engine Optimizer in Cambridge Ontario, I know of a few ways to get a website to the top of the SERPs (Search Engine Results Page).

The tactic I'm about to describe is so easy, anyone can do it, and the results are absolutely dramatic (when it works).

Switch to a new website hosting provider.

That's it. Simply moving your website to a new server will sometimes make Google take notice and give it new respect in the rankings.

Mind you, this nifty lil' trick doesn't work ALL the time. Results may vary.

I'm not going to disclose the hosting provider, but I will tell you my website's Google ranking jettisoned to the very top for several weeks before dropping a few positions (Just Say ON is now in #1 spot, and been that way for months). You may or may not have the same success with them.

If you want to try this out, go ahead, but ideally you'll want to choose a hosting provider that is physically located near you. You'll want to leverage geo-location variables such as the IP location of the server and your Country Code Top Level Domain Name, variables Google has been placing more weight on in it's attempts to validate local websites.

P.S. I will do this procedure for a flat rate of $100. Please contact me via the webform.
